The Los Angeles Rams traded for Von Miller at around the halfway point of the 2021 season. The veteran, injured at the time of the trade, produced for the team when it mattered the most, the postseason.
In the playoffs, Miller averaged a sack per game en route to the Rams winning it all.
Miller landed on the Bills
Playoff Von Miller is still a force to be reckoned with despite his age. That is why he got the big bucks by the Buffalo Bills. The Bills are a perennial threat to go deep into the tournament. Now with Miller, the team is favored to win the Super Bowl.
However, the Rams offered Miller more annually than the Bills, per Dan Pompeii. The difference between the contracts was the Rams guaranteed only two years, while the Bills did theirs for three. Miller signed in Buffalo for six years and $120 million.
He had another team in mind
Miller had another team in mind as a free agent. The Dallas Cowboys were in the mix for Miller.
“I told them I was ready to come to the Cowboys,” Miller said via The Athletic’s Dan Pompeii. “I would have taken less to go to Dallas because it’s Dallas. But I wouldn’t take that much less.”
He grew up in DeSoto, Texas. As such, Miller played high school football there. Additionally, he played at Texas A&M in college. The next step would have been to play on the Cowboys.
Rams fans rejoiced when he went to the Bills. Los Angeles has both teams on the schedule this season, but it is less likely to see Miller in the playoffs this way. The last two times Miller played in the postseason, he averaged a sack or more per game.
The future Hall-of-Famer terrorized opposing quarterbacks in his last eight playoff games. While it is sad to see the legend leave, Rams fans should rejoice that we are unlikely to see him in the big tournament.
