The Eagles haven’t seen much national media coverage since the acquisition of AJ Brown. However, the team is ready to hit the ground running in week one in Detroit. Many articles and experts have said that the Eagles had the best offseason of any team in the NFL. Fans had Howie Roseman on the way out after the debacle, including Doug Pederson and Carson Wentz. Since then, Roseman has turned this team around and the Delaware Valley is flying high knowing that their football team is competing for the big ticket this season.
Going into last season, analysts and even the Philly faithful had low expectations for the birds. Many experts had the team winning around 4-7 wins and finishing below Dallas and Washington, at least. Jalen Hurts turned out to be one of the biggest overachievers in the NFL that season, along with his teammates. The rookie campaign of Devonta Smith was promising as well. The reigning Heisman winner broke all sorts of franchise rookie records. The team, with all those improvements, finished 9-8 and earned a spot in the NFL Playoffs.
After a blowout loss to Tom Brady and the Bucs, the Eagles’ front office focused on the road ahead. It didn’t take long to start the reform. Haason Reddick, a Temple graduate, signed with the team in March. While that was a huge step toward a better team, Philly wasn’t done. On draft night, the team got 3 playmakers that are ready to impact the team in week one. Nakobe Dean, another linebacker was taken late in the 3rd round, a big-time steal. Jordan Davis, the athletic freak out of Georgia, was the birds’ first-round pick after their blockbuster trade. The Eagles, in surprise fashion, went out and got AJ Brown. One of the biggest trades of the offseason got Philly a franchise player.
Other offseason transactions included additions like Kyzir White, Zach Pascal, and James Bradberry. All these additions put the Eagles in the headlines and gave Nick Sirianni’s team higher expectations. Some experts even believe that the team can earn a first-round bye this January. Miles Sanders, the team’s 4th year running back, called the roster an “all-star team.” Astonishingly, the Eagles also own the 3rd easiest schedule in all of the NFL. Opponents’ 2021 winning percentage stands at .464. Not to mention, Philly gets to play the Giants and the Commanders 4 times.
In conclusion, I believe that the Birds could win as many as 14 games in 2022. Even if things go south and injuries rear their ugly head, the team could still win 9-11 games. I have higher expectations for this team, and you should too.
