Every fan base wants to know if their team has a chance at competing for that Super Bowl trophy this season. I am here to tell you that one of these teams will make that happen. Sorry, I wish there were more teams that I could include, but my hands are tied. This is just what the math is telling me. Don’t let this discourage you if you are a fan of a team not listed. There is always next year. Without further ado, let’s dive in!
Buffalo Bills
This one is pretty obvious so I wont go into too much detail. They are the favorites and are absolutely loaded on both sides of the ball. You saw this in Week 1 vs the defending Super Bowl Champions. The Bills can beat you with the short passing game, or they can beat you deep when you aren’t ready for it. They were also missing their top CB in White, but that didn’t seem to affect them. They let Cooper Kupp get his catches and shut everyone else down. The front 7 got to Stafford all game without actually needing to blitz. This team has all the makings to finally getting over the hump and hoisting that Lombardi trophy! Honestly, I would be shocked if it was any other team as I have been saying all offseason. If the Bills can’t win it all, below are the only other teams that I believe have a shot to win it all this year.
Los Angeles Chargers
This team underperformed last season in my opinion. That was mostly due to their defense that struggles as they gave up the 2nd most points in the AFC last year. I think they have made some moves that will help this year. First, they really shored up their secondary with the signing of J.C. Jackson. He is one of the better CB’s in this league and should really help them out. Also, they added Khalil Mack. The only issue with Mack lately has been his health. He had 6 sacks in 7 games last season. If he healthy and can stay on the field along with Bosa this season, then this defense could be one of the better units in the NFL. They really don’t need to be elite on defense because their offense could be a top 3 offense in the league.Herbert is one of my favorites to win the MVP this year. They extended Mike WIlliams and have weapons everywhere with Keenan Allen, Austin Ekeler, and the addition of TE Gerald Everett. He finally gives them that downfield athletic TE they have needed. With improvement on their defense, this could be a team that brings Los Angeles their 2nd Super Bowl championship in as many years!
Baltimore Ravens
Here is a team that I think a lot of people are sleeping on this season. Part of that is because most people think the runner up Bengals from last season will win this division. I am here to tell you that the Ravens will win this division and it might be by multiple games. I have written this is a different article, but the Ravens were the most injured team in all of the NFL last season. That’s not an opinion. They actually rank that sort of thing so it’s a fact. Don’t kill the messenger. With a healthy defense with possibly one of the best secondaries in the league, this team is bound to improve. They almost won the division last season with all of those injuries, including losing Lamar Jackson for a few games.
This team will rely on their running game, defense, and timely passing to win games. JK Dobbins will return to give that backfield more depth and he is out to prove that he can dominate in this league after a season long injury last year. Speaking of being out to prove something, Lamar Jackson was not able to get a contract extension so this is his contract year where he will try to get that huge contract that he believes he deserves. They also have Mark Andrews, who is arguably the best TE in the league. The only weakness is possibly their receivers and passing game. Other than Andrews, they are relying on youngster Bateman and a cast of unproven players. That doesn’t scare me. This team has the toughness and determination to take the trophy back to Baltimore!
