- There is much speculation about the season as to who will start at QB at U of M this Fall. The two QBs are none other than J.J. McCarthy and Cade McNamara. The case could be that both are really good but it seems the popular choice is J.J., and it’s obvious why with the eye-popping plays he made last year.
JJ McCarthy
To start with JJ, here’s why he could start. The sophomore made some plays when he did get time in the games significantly earlier in the year playing teams like Western Michigan and NIU. He did well also against stronger competition as well in the Big Ten play. Showing a cannon of an arm and good mobility overall. I remember this play he made against Western last year which was just like ok, this kid is special!
Cade playing in the College Playoff against Georgia
Cade McNamara
The next choice is the safe option for some for next year. Look Cade got most of the praise because of course he did start last year. He led the Wolverines to some key victories against big rivals THE Ohio State University and also against Iowa in the Big Ten Championship. It’s also good to note that he really did not lose the Wolverines games at all with TD to Int rate 15-6. Now the run game was big in for us last year hence why he did not throw a lot with Haskins and returning back Corum.
So who will when the job next year, well as Head Coach Jim Harbaugh said, he mentioned both will battle it out. He said he could name the starter before or even during the first game of the season against Colorado State on September 3rd. Time will tell and it’s a wait-or-see approach in this case.
