Sean McVay is undoubtedly one of the top head coaches in the NFL. He cemented his status this last season after his Los Angeles Rams won the Super Bowl.
He is one of eight coaches in the league to win it all. That is pretty illustrious since there is only one championship game each season.
As McVay enters his sixth season as head coach of the Rams, he is rated favorably by Cody Benjamin of CBS.

McVay is ranked second amongst all of the coaches in the league. The only man he sits behind is Andy Reid, Kansas City Chiefs. Rams fans should be happy, however, there has been some online backlash to the list by other fanbases.
Another source of malcontent for fanbases stems from part of the title of the list, “Sean McVay overtakes Bill Belichick.” Belichick has nothing left to prove. If Belichick retired he would likely be the best head coach in league history. That is why many fans take issue with McVay’s rating over him.
Bill Belichick’s tree
However, there is more than just coaching your players in the realm of coaching. Belichick has many notable disciples in the NFL, same with McVay (despite him being so young).
Coaches from the Belichick “family tree” have not had great success in the league up to this point. The best to date is Mike Vrabel, with some consideration that could go Brian Flores’ way. Both coaches are tremendous, which is something that cannot be taken away from them. However, Vrabel has repeatedly choked in the playoffs, and Flores never made it to the tournament.
Belichick’s coaching tree has a wide-ranging tree, but more often than not has resulted in underwhelming levels of success on the professional level.
Sean McVay’s tree
McVay’s tree consists of Matt LaFleur and Zac Taylor, to name a notable couple. LaFleur and his Green Bay Packers are threats to make it out of the NFC. Meanwhile, the Super Bowl consisted of McVay and Taylor’s Cincinnati Bengals last year.
McVay has a vastly smaller tree than Belichick, but it has had more success than that of the Patriots’ coaching tree. Based on the success and how young McVay is, it is fair that he is ranked higher than Belichick on an ever-changing scale.
