The New York Giants decided to remake its quarterback room for the 2025 NFL season. After having one of the worst quarterback rooms during the 2024 season, it can only go up for them for the 2025 season.

Daniel Jones, Tommy DeVito, Tim Boyle, and Drew Lock were the Giants quarterbacks in 2024. In 2025, Jaxson Dart, Russell Wilson, and Jameis Winston are all on the team now instead of Lock, Jones, and Boyle. For now, DeVito is still there but there is a good chance that he may not make the team. As for Dart, he was the 25th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft from the Ole Miss Rebels. Is there a chance he could start his rookie season?
NFL Insider Discusses When New York Giants Quarterback Jaxson Dart Could Start For Them

Matt Holder of bleacherreport.com has one question for each NFL team after OTAs concluded. For the Giants, he asked, “When will Jaxson Dart be ready?” This is one of the biggest debates because the plan is not for Dart to start right away in the 2025 NFL season. Russell Wilson will be the starting quarterback most likely, and Jameis Winston will most likely be the backup quarterback.
Holder said about when will Dart be ready,
“Everyone knows neither Russell Wilson nor Jameis Winston is the Giants’ long-term solution at quarterback. That’s why the front office traded back into the first round to draft Jaxson Dart.
So, the big question is when will the rookie be ready for the bright lights in New York and finally solve the organization’s quarterback problem?
From the sounds of it, it could be sooner rather than later.
“No one is perfect, but Jaxson Dart does not look like a fish out of water,” John Schmeelk of the team’s website wrote.
“To stick with the H2O metaphors, learning the team’s system for most rookies, especially quarterbacks, is like trying to drink out of a fire hose.
“There’s so much coming at them that it is going to be impossible to take everything coming at them. Dart doesn’t look completely overwhelmed and has made some nice throws. He has also showed off his athleticism a bit, which should be considered a win.””
It would be ideal for the Giants to not start him in 2025 and have them win games with either Wilson or Winston. What New York is not hoping for is for Wilson and Winston to get injured and have Dart thrown into the wolves when not ready. If the Giants are off to a 1-6 start in 2025, the fanbase may call for head coach Brian Daboll to start Dart.
There is no doubt that this will be a big 2025 season for New York. They had a 3-14 record in 2024, and they have to show signs of progress. If they do not show signs of progress, there is a chance that general manager Joe Schoen and Daboll could be out of a job. It will be interesting to see if Dart will start at all in 2025 or not. There is no doubt Giants fans will pay close attention to him during the preseason game action.
