The Alabama Crimson Tide had a transition year in 2024 under head coach Kalen DeBoer after Nick Saban retired. Alabama had a chance to make it to the 2024 college football playoffs, but they finished with a 9-3 record and just missed out.

The Crimson Tide lost to the Michigan Wolverines in a bowl game in 2024 and wide receiver Ryan Williams was not thrilled about it. Williams was one of the best freshman wide receivers in the country along with Ohio State Buckeyes standout Jeremiah Smith in 2024. Williams entering his sophomore season in college football is looking to have more success and get his team to the college football playoffs.

Alabama coaches and players understand that they need to get themselves into the playoff picture for the 2025 season. The Crimson Tide star receiver understands what kind of expectations they will have for the 2025 college football season. Williams said to Pete Nakos of on3 sports,

“In my entire life, Alabama has won 10 games. And my first season here, that was the only time we haven’t won 10 games since I’ve been alive. You can only imagine what losing to Michigan did to me… We know what we want to accomplish. We’re some men on a mission.”

Williams as a 17-year-old freshman at Alabama in 2024 caught 48 passes for 865 yards receiving and eight touchdowns, along with averaging 18.0 yards per catch. Williams also rushed for 48 yards on four carries and two touchdowns, along with averaging 12.0 yards per carry.

There is no doubt that he can make an impact at wide receiver during his second year with Alabama. He is 6’0″ and weighs 175 lbs. It will be interesting to see how much he will grow and how much weight he will put on his body over the next couple of years before heading into the NFL Draft. Williams will not be catching passes from quarterback Jalen Milroe in 2025 with Milroe now in the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks.

No matter who the starting quarterback for Alabama will be in 2025, everyone in the locker room will have the same goal and this is to make it to the college football playoffs and beyond. Williams has a great chance to put the team on his back offensively during his sophomore season in college also.
