Will Levis vs South Carolina
Unfortunately for college football and draft fans, Will Levis was ruled out of his Week 6 matchup vs South Carolina. Levis dislocated his finger and injured his ankle last week vs Ole Miss, but was able to finish that game. 15 minutes before kick off Kentucky announced their starting quarterback was to not play and avoid risking worse injury. I personally think this was a good move as he was going against a defense with serious NFL talent on it while not at 100% is a recipe for a disappointing performance that will only go towards hurting his draft stock.
With Levis not playing a lot of eyes may have left this game, but the Gamecocks’ defense still showed out. From the first snap the defense and special teams made huge impacts. Fumbles and blocked kicks helped built an early lead that Kentucky couldn’t dig themselves out of. QB Kaiya Sheron made his first career start and was held to a QBR of 29.5 by a pass defense led by future top 10 pick Cam Smith.
