Gridiron Heroics’ Lead Draft Analyst Nick Merriam and draft writer Owen McCullor team up to bring you the Week 6 NFL Draft Prospects to Watch! Think of it as a double dose of advance scouting and CFB previews.
Will Levis vs South Carolina
Will Levis is one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2023 NFL draft. Flaunting his high end athleticism and arm talent, Levis faced his toughest test of the season last week. Fighting through a dislocated finger to lead his team to the brink of a win, before an Ole Miss strip sack put an end to that. Levis was solid vs a highly ranked Ole Miss team and will look to continue that high level of play. Levis hasn’t been surrounded by top talent this year. Losing 2 starting offensive lineman and his best receiver to the 2022 NFL draft impacted the Kentucky offense. Despite that depletion of talent, Levis has kept the Wildcats near the top and will look to continue to do so this week.
South Carolina comes into their game against Kentucky after crushing SC State. Dealing with some injuries has led the team to falling out of the top 25, but are still a tough out for an ill prepared opponent. South Carolina ranks 23rd in the nation, only allowing 180 passing yards per game. Starting one of the top cornerback prospects in recent memory will help with that. Cam Smith has been lights out for the Gamecocks and looks to be cementing himself as a potential top 10 pick in April. Levis will need to play a perfect game while having his best top receiver shadowed by the top defensive back in the nation.
