Hey all and welcome to my Week 5 GPP review. Things went decently for me this week, but mistakes were made. Let’s get into it.

    Week 5 GPP Ownership Percentage

Here were the Highest Owned Players for Week 5 GPPs (multi entry tournament):

    Week 5 GPP
The highest owned player on the slate, Chris Godwin only had 6 catches for 61 yards against the Falcons. (Photo by Mike Ehrmann/Getty Images)
    1. Chris Godwin – 26%
    2. Cowboys DST – 23.5%
    3. Chris Olave – 22.5%
    4. James Robinson – 21.5%
    5. Mike Evans – 20.7%
    6. Tom Brady – 20.2%
    7. Jeff Wilson – 16.5%
    8. Stefon Diggs – 16.3%
    9. Damien Harris – 16.2%
    10. Nick Chubb – 16%

I don’t know why I need to keep learning this lesson. Excluding Olave and Harris, I played those players in lineups where they made sense. I knew Godwin was going to be the highest owned player, but I drank the Kool-aid that the Bucs where going to annihilate the Falcons. A grand total of one of those players was in the Week 5 GPP winning lineup…the Cowboys. Identifying ownership is the quickest way to to gain leverage on the field Boris!!!

    The Good

Paying up at QB, outside of maybe Geno Smith, may be the way to go going forward. I had a good amount of Josh Allen and Jalen Hurts, I just wish I had more. Also, if Kyler Murray was not horrible, that game would have gone into OT and Hurts likely would have had more production, but them’s the breaks. I expect a chalky approach to week 6 when the Bills and Chiefs renew hostilities.

Though I have Gabe Davis in every one of my seasonal leagues, I did not have him in every one of my DK lineups. I did have him in a few Allen stacks, and unsurprisingly, those were my best performing lineups. I even had some double stacks with Khahil Shakir. I did call this game script correctly.

Nick Chubb, my featured image on my Week 5 GPP Breakdown, came through with over 100 yards and two TDs.

On Sunday morning I identified Alvin Kamara as a strong leverage play. I put this note in my Discord (click to join!) but too bad Taysom Hill stole everything. Kamara still put 27.4 DK points; I can only imagine how much money I would have made if he got the rushing TDs instead of Taysom.

I ended up playing a lot of Rhamondre Stevenson. Go me!

    The Neutral

Taysom Hill is not eligible at TE on DraftKings like he is some seasonal leagues. Considering him at QB wasn’t even in my solar system this week. He wasn’t in the winning lineup anyway.

Cooper Kupp did get over the 25 DK points necessary at his price point. He wasn’t in the Week 5 GPP winning lineup though.

I used Ekeler in many of my Herbert stacks, but since Herbert didn’t top 300 yards nor more than one TD, those lineups were mostly sunk.

    The Bad

    James Robinson
At over 20% ownership, James Robinson failed, only putting up 5.9 fantasy points (Photo: ProFootballTalk – NBC Sports/Getty Images)

James Robinson. I hate this man. Nothing he has done personally, but I know better than to play James Robinson chalk. Like….I. KNOW. IT. I missed on his ownership yesterday though. I thought he would be lower owned. I really missed on this and need to be better.

I was heavy on Justin Herbert yesterday, but I feel pretty good about identifying a potential high scoring affair between the Chargers and Browns. Herbert just seems to be allergic to the end zone right now. Positive regression will be coming though.

I ate too much chalk yesterday. The Kool-aid was that Tom Brady was angry, and he would take it out on the Falcons like he has a history of doing. The Falcons are scrappy, and previous performances are not always indicators of future success. Brady did improve to 10 – 0 in his career vs Atlanta.

Why I neglected to remember that Bill Bellichick completely shutdown Jared Goff once before is something I’m still upset about this morning.

I found myself unable to pay up at WR in most of my lineups, and when I did, I focused on AJ Brown. Justin Jefferson should have been on my radar more, and I even said to myself: “I’m not getting any Jefferson, this could burn me.” Did I listen? Of course not.
