Week 2 of the 2024 college football season was notable, to say the least. We saw six ranked teams lose and several teams became vulnerable to drop out of the rankings. So, how many of those teams ended up dropping out of the rankings? Read below to find out.
Notable Week 2 Results
Before we look at the new AP Poll, we should review the most notable results from Week 2. For starters, #3 Texas and #14 Tennessee had impressive wins over #10 Michigan and #24 NC State respectively.
The most shocking result of the week was by far #5 Notre Dame losing at home to unranked Northern Illinois. On top of this, Iowa State defeated #21 Iowa, Illinois defeated #19 Kansas, and Syracuse defeated #23 Georgia Tech.

Biggest Takeaways From New AP Poll
Earlier this morning, I wrote an article predicting the Week 3 AP Poll. Of course, I did not end up getting everything exactly right compared to the actual poll.
There were no surprises in the Top 5 of this poll. However, Missouri ended up moving higher than I expected and Oregon lower than I expected. Despite swapped positions, Michigan and Notre Dame ended up almost exactly where I expected them to. Plus, Iowa State, Nebraska, and Boston College all entered the poll as I predicted.
One of the biggest surprises for me was seeing Northern Illinois getting ranked as soon as they did. Apparently, the upset win over Notre Dame held more weight for that committee and the Huskies get a shoutout because of it. Considering they beat a Top 5 team on the road that Texas A&M failed to beat at home, one can argue that this is a justified ranking.
