The Kansas City Chiefs will be preparing for another season at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. However, there may be a point in the future where quarterback Patrick Mahomes is no longer playing at Arrowhead Stadium.

There are potential plans for the Chiefs to maybe move from Missouri to Kansas City, Kansas. The move would not be that far away on I-70 and the new potential stadium for the future in Kansas would be a domed stadium and not an outdoor venue. It is something worth monitoring for the Chiefs over the next year or so.
Kansas City Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes Discusses the Future Of Either Playing Home Games in Missouri or Kansas

Many Chiefs fans have chimed on whether the team should stay at Arrowhead Stadium in Missouri or if they should build a new domed stadium in Kansas. No matter what is decided, the Chiefs are in a win-win situation. If they were to stay in Missouri, they will keep the legendary field Arrowhead Stadium going.
If not, then a new stadium in Kansas would be refreshing for the Chiefs fanbase because Arrowhead Stadium is over 50 years old. Mahomes spoke to Alex Sherman of CNBC Sport and said,
“You know, it is really out of my control, honestly. But I think there’s a — Arrowhead is a special place. It’s a special place that doesn’t come around a lot of times. It’s my favorite place to play in the NFL, not just because it’s my team, but you can feel the history of it when you play.”
Well, there is a chance that Mahomes may finish his career in Kansas instead of Missouri. He felt as if the organization is in a good spot no matter what when it comes to the stadium’s situation. Mahomes also added,
“But I know Kansas has done a great bit as well. And I mean, they would build a great stadium and facility and be the top of the top. And so I don’t really have a choice no matter, anyways, but I think either way, we can’t go wrong, because we have the fan base of the Chiefs Kingdom behind us, and they’ll fill that stadium, no matter if it’s in Missouri or Kansas. So I’m just excited for the future of the Kansas City Chiefs.”
The current lease runs through the 2030 season. There is a chance that this franchise could be in a new stadium Kansas by the time the 2031 season rolls around. Who knows how many more memorable moments Mahomes, head coach Andy Reid, and the rest organization will have at Arrowhead Stadium.
They have won three Super Bowls since the 2019 season and have been to the Super Bowl five times. It will be interesting to see if Mahomes is still at the top of his game in a few years from now. Moving from Missouri to Kansas potentially would have major ramifications for the franchise and the fanbase, even if it is not a far drive.
