The New York Giants are 2-8 this season and one of the reasons why they are one of the worst teams in the NFL this season is Daniel Jones. The Giants this offseason improved the offensive line and got him more receiver help, but Jones simply regressed.
He struggled to throw the football down the field this season. A lot of Giants fans were calling for him to be benched before the bye week.
New York Giants Bench Daniel Jones In Favor Of Tommy DeVito
According to sources who told NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Giants have decided to bench Daniel Jones in favor of Tommy DeVito. It was about time New York decided to bench him and it was long overdue. With this benching, this signals the end of him being the Giants’ starting quarterback.
Jones received a four-year $160 million extension after the 2022 season. He had a Torn ACL in the middle of last season. Daniel Jones this season completed 63.3% of his passes for 2,070 yards, eight touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He also rushed for 265 yards on 67 carries and two touchdowns, along with averaging 4.0 yards per carry.
They are going to see if DeVito can either be a bridge or backup quarterback for the future. It is interesting that they decided to start him over Drew Lock for the remainder of the season. New York will not have to worry about the $23 million injury clause for 2025 with Daniel Jones being benched.

There are a lot of happy New York Giants fans on Monday morning with Daniel Jones being benched for Tommy DeVito. They will most likely draft a quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft. The remainder of the 2024 season and the 2025 offseason will be very intriguing for this franchise.
