Terry McLaurin WR1 for the Washington Commanders started his 4th and final year on a rookie contract. He was previously only earning 2.97 million dollars. McLaurin’s new contract is a three-year extension of 71 million dollars. His contract entailed a 28 million dollar signing bonus and 34.6 million dollars guaranteed. Early in the summer, we saw how McLaurin held out from mandatory camps and offseason workouts. This new contract is well deserved in the last three seasons he scored over 16 touchdowns while leading the team in receptions and yards. He is truly an asset to the Commanders.
The wide receiver talks about how it was weird to miss practice and be away from the team. McLaurin goes on to highlight how his team chemistry is very important to him. He also talks about how reps and getting to know his new quarterback Carson Wentz are things he missed out on, but “business had to be done.” This is the new deal he has been looking for. This new deal also puts Mclaurin on the list of top 10 paid wide receivers in the league. He posted on Twitter “One of the best days of my life, shared with the ones who I wouldn’t be here without. Thank God ready for what’s to come. #weback.” This following season Carson Wentz and McLaurin should be a dynamic duo to look out for.
