The Washington Commanders make a few staff changes
The Washington Commanders are making several key changes for the 2023 season. The Commanders narrowly missed the playoffs in 2022. They appear to be looking to reload for a better season in 2023. The team announced several new coaching adjustments for next season on Tuesday.
The announcements came not long after the Commanders decided to apply the franchise tag to defensive tackle Daron Payne. The defensive line should be one of the best groups in the NFL next season. The Commanders are expected to have a top defense again in 2023. They will have a couple of new assistants to help the unit.
According to Aaron Wilson with KPRC, the Commanders named Brent Viselmyer as the defensive backs coach. Richard Rodgers will be the senior defensive assistant with the safeties. Cristian Garcia will be the assistant defensive backs/nickels coach. On offense, the Commanders hired Tavita Pritchard as their quarterback’s coach. Ken Zampese will be the senior offensive advisor/game management coach.

The Washington Commanders’ offense will also have a new look in 2023. Offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy will lead the Commanders after coming over from a successful stint as the Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator when they won two Super Bowls. He’ll help Sam Howell transition to be a full-time starting quarterback.
