The Washington Commanders and rookie phenom Jayden Daniels are legitimately putting up video game numbers. Daniels’ first four games as a starter are truly not believable, as he is doing things that even the greatest quarterbacks of all time have not done in their careers, and he is doing it in his first starts in the NFL.
It’s Only 4 Games, But Jayden Daniels Is In A Class Of His Own
Daniels and the Commanders started the season with a tough loss against a great team in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but since then, the rookie has been truly historic in his “college offense”. The title of the article is actually true which is hard to even wrap one’s head around. The Commanders, through 4 NFL games have had more scoring drives than incompletions thrown by Daniels, but the stats get even crazier.
Before deep diving, it’s good to mention that this does not mean anything for the future. The more games one plays in the league the more people can figure a player out and plan on how to stop him. Daniels has only played four games so far, and anything can happen. But with that being said, it’s good to acknowledge history when it’s being made in front of our eyes.
In four games, Daniels has the highest completion percentage OF ALL TIME at 82.1 percent of any quarterback in any four-game period in the history of the league. If one of the great quarterbacks ever did that for four games we would be bewildered let alone a guy in his first four games as an NFL player?! Video game numbers.
That goes along with a record that stopped this past week in their week 4 win when they finally punted after multiple games! They went multiple games without punting. Per Riggos Rag:
Just to summarize, the Commanders are currently on pace to be a better offense than teams that had Tom Brady, Randy Moss, Rob Gronkowski, Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams, Patrick Mahomes, and Travis Kelce all in their prime. Some of those teams at the top of that list – the 2007 Patriots especially – will go down in history as some of the most prolific offenses in the history of organized professional football, and the Commanders are currently playing better than they did.
Here are the best offenses in terms of points scored per drive over the first four weeks of the season through 2000. Commanders are second behind an MVP Rodgers season. Ahead of the 2007 Patriots, the best Mahomes offenses, a Manning MVP year… pic.twitter.com/0t9JRLLmRY

For Daniels to be doing something, yes in just four weeks, that Tom Brady in the best year of his career has done is nothing short of insane. While Daniels and the Commanders have their whole season in front of them, this start should be understood for what it is. The best start to any player of all time in their first four games.
To make matters more interesting, their division, which was thought to be a tough one, looks awful. The Commanders are in the best position to win their division this season.
There is No Reason That This Can’t Continue
While the law of averages is real, and it doesn’t make any sense that this team is doing this with a rookie, while almost every other team is struggling offensively, there are not many convincing reasons that this will stop any time soon.
While there are some tough defenses on their schedule, most of them are not. The Commanders have had the absolute best offense in the game for the first month of football and there are not many teams on their schedule that look like they can stop Daniels and brilliant coordinator Kliff Kingsbury.
Their team defense certainly needs work, and that may be problematic down the stretch of an entire season, but as fans, we should open our eyes and see that we may be witnessing the best rookie season of all time.
Every week that Daniels continues to do this will be trailblazing a new record book for rookie quarterbacks, not to mention he also has the most rush yards of any quarterback through their first four games in the NFL.
