The Washington Commanders fired their vice president of content, Rael Enteen, for comments made on a video.
The comments in question included attacks on players, fans, and big names in the NFL. Washington, as an organization, has made no other comment.
Rael Enteen attacked Washington Commanders fans and players
In the video that led to the firing of Enteen, he referred to fans as “mouth breathers.” Enteen also went on to accuse the players on the Commanders of being homophobic. In an article from ESPN Enteen explains why he thinks many players on the team are anti-gay.
Enteen told the undercover reporter that “over 50% of our roster is white religious, and God says, ‘F— the gays.’ Their interpretation. I don’t buy any of that. Another big chunk is low-income African Americans that comes from a community that is inherently very homophobic.”
He also said, “I don’t think the commissioner of the NFL hates gay people, hates black people. Jerry Jones, who really runs the NFL, I think he hates gay people, black people.”
Enteen thought he was on a date with a woman from a dating app, but the date ended up being an undercover reporter from the O’Keefe Media Group. The video was not the first time the two had met.
Enteen also aimed at big names in the NFL. He accused Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, of being racist. He also accused NFL commissioner Roger Goodell of being a “$50 million puppet.”
Enteen was originally suspended Wednesday but was fired Thursday for his comments.
Fans think the firing of the Washington Commanders VP is troubling
Even though Enteen took direct aim at fans, calling them “mouth breathers,” many fans still took to social media to argue that the firing of Enteen was wrong.
Many fans think Enteen is being silenced by the league because too much of what he said hit too close to home. Other fans are questioning why Enteen was “fired for telling the truth.”

Did they fire him for being out of line or fire him to shut him up?
