The Washington Commanders enter the 2024 season hoping for more success than they had in the 2023 season. Washington finished the season in 2023 with a 4-13 record. The Commanders are currently trying to rebuild the franchise step-by-step.
They got step one down by selecting quarterback Jayden Daniels second overall in the 2024 NFL Draft out of LSU. The Commanders are going to need to get Daniels some more playmakers in the future.
2025 NFL Mock Draft Has the Washington Commanders Selecting Arizona Wildcats Wide Receiver Tetairoa McMillan
It will be interesting to see what the Washington Commanders would do in the 2025 NFL Draft. The odds are that they are going to need to find a top wide receiver for Jayden Daniels to grow and develop with. Kyle Crabbs of the33rdteam.com has the Washington Commanders selecting 8th overall in a 2025 NFL Mock Draft.
With that selection, he has the Commanders selecting wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan from the Arizona Wildcats eighth overall in the 2025 NFL Draft. To no surprise, Travis Hunter of the Colorado Buffaloes would be gone by that selection.
However, Luther Burden III of the Missouri Tigers would still be on the board with this selection. It would be a surprise to see the Washington Commanders take the Arizona Wildcats star instead of the Missouri Tigers star. Crabbs said:
“McMillan is an absolute monster of a wide receiver. Hands? Check. Ball skills? Check. Contested catch ability? Check. He’ll win at the catch point.
But his dynamic abilities and physical play make him a massive headache for defenders. He’s got excellent body control and above-average fluidity for his 6-foot-5 frame. McMillan looks more like a Create-A-Player prototype than a real-life prospect.
In 2023, McMillan received more than 10 percent of his targets for the season while running go’s, outs, hitches, and screens. The overlap isn’t perfect, but it shares some volume consistency with one of Jayden Daniels’ favorite college targets, Brian Thomas Jr. (23 percent target share on go’s, 42.5 percent target share on hitches).”
To start the college football season, Tetairoa McMillan caught 10 passes for 304 yards receiving and four touchdowns for the Arizona Wildcats. He also averaged 30.4 yards per catch. McMillan would no doubt be a gamebreaker for the Washington Commanders offense.
Terry McLaurin Not Getting Any Younger
With the Washington Commanders in a rebuild, they could trade star wide receiver Terry McLaurin if they are out of it by the NFL trade deadline. McLaurin is not getting any younger. He is 28 years old, but will he be a part of their plans long term?
Outside of him, they do not have much depth. The Washington Commanders already traded Jahan Dotson to the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason. Rookie Luke McCaffrey and Dyami Brown could be wide receivers who play well this year for the Commanders. However, Tetairoa McMillan would be a good fit for the Washington Commanders offense.
