The Washington Commanders need help with their receiving corps and could use another veteran receiver for rookie Jayden Daniels. The Commanders’ top three leading wide receivers so far during the 2024 regular season include Terry McLaurin, Noah Brown, and Olamide Zaccheaus through 13 games. McLaurin has 61 receptions for 896 yards and nine touchdowns; Brown has 35 receptions for 453 yards and one touchdown; and Zaccheaus has 27 receptions for 264 yards. To make matters worse, one of their top receivers is out indefinitely.
The Washington Commanders veteran WR2 is dealing with something internally
Noah Brown suffered an apparent rib injury and exited early in Week 13 against the Tennessee Titans. Tests determined that Brown is dealing with a significant internal injury, a kidney issue that will cause him to miss an extended period or, quite possibly, the rest of the 2024 season. The expectation is for the Commanders to soon place their number two wide receiver on injured reserve, a devastating loss to their offense and receiving corps.
The Washington Commanders claimed a veteran off waivers
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Washington Commanders have claimed veteran wide receiver K.J. Osborn off waivers from the New England Patriots. Since the Commanders claimed Osborn off waivers, they will inherit the remainder of his contract, and he will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. He signed a 1-year, $4 million contract with the Patriots during the 2024 offseason, with $3.18 million guaranteed.

Here’s a quick review of his tenure in New England
After playing a substantial role on the offense for the first four games of the season, K.J. Osborn would miss Weeks 5 and 6 with a shoulder injury. Upon returning to the rotation for Week 7, Osborn became the odd man out and ultimately fell out of the rotation, becoming a healthy scratch for Week 9. The New England Patriots attempted to trade him during the trade deadline but to no avail. As a result, the Patriots and the veteran receiver mutually agreed to part ways on Monday after being a healthy scratch for Weeks 11-13.
He finished his tenure in New England with seven receptions on 18 targets for 57 yards and one touchdown in seven games, four starts, and 232 offensive snaps.
