The Washington Commanders’ third-round pick, Brandon Coleman, entered the offseason as the starting left tackle. Coleman alternated with Cornelius Lucas at left tackle at the beginning of his rookie season and eventually took over as the full-time starter since Week 9. He put up decent numbers for a rookie, surrendering 41 pressures, 25 hurries, six QB hits, and ten sacks allowed while posting a 56.5 pass-blocking, a 62.4 run-blocking, and a 59.8 overall PFF grade in the regular season and postseason.
Since the team didn’t feel comfortable with him protecting Jayden Daniels as the blindside protector, they acquired a Pro Bowler to fill the void at left tackle.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Commanders acquired Laremy Tunsil and a 2025 fourth-round pick from the Texans in exchange for a 2025 third and seventh-round pick and a 2026 second and fourth-round pick. Tunsil enters the second year of his 3-year, $75 million contract. The 30-year-old is scheduled to earn a $20.95 million base salary and a $21.35 million cap hit in 2025 and 2026 per Over The Cap.
The newcomer had a great 2024 campaign

Laremy Tunsil had a great 2024 campaign, earning him his 5th Pro Bowl selection, but led all offensive linemen in the league with 19 penalties. Tunsil gave up 23 pressures, 16 hurries, three QB hits, and four sacks allowed in the regular season and postseason. He also posted an 89.1 pass-blocking, a 74.0 run-blocking, and a 78.1 overall PFF grade, ranking 4th in pass-blocking, 20th in run-blocking, and 18th in overall grade among qualified offensive tackles who played a minimum 50% of snaps (h/t) PFF.
Where will their third-round pick line up in 2025?

Since he is out of the running for the starting left tackle job, Brandon Coleman could play three positions on the offensive line next season. The first option is right guard since Sam Cosmi could miss a chunk of 2025 to recover from an ACL tear sustained in the Divisional Round. The second option is right tackle since Andrew Wylie could be a cap casualty thanks to his $10.4 million cap hit and the $7.75 million cap savings with a pre-June 1st cut. Finally, the last option is swing tackle or swing guard.
