Washington Commanders: Select This Star Wide Receiver In Latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft

The Washington Commanders had the second-overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft after finishing with a 4-13 record in 2023. Things could be very similar for Washington in 2024. They still have a lot of things they need to improve on.

Another thing that is not going their way is NFC East divisional play. The Washington Commanders surprisingly went 0-6 in the division last season. It appears as if the New York Giants, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Dallas Cowboys will all be better again than them this season.

At some point, things are going to have to change for the Washington Commanders. That’s why they have a new head coach, general manager, and quarterback in place for this season and beyond. Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels hopefully could take the league by storm this year after being the second-overall pick from LSU.

Ian Cummings of Pro Football Network was working on a 2025 NFL Mock Draft. He has the Washington Commanders in his latest mock draft picking fifth overall next year and selecting star wide receiver Luther Burden III from the Missouri Tigers.

Cummings said about the Washington Commanders making this selection:

“Close your eyes and imagine a Commanders offense with Jayden Daniels, Terry McLaurin, and Luther Burden III. Burden almost resembles Chris Chambers with his unique frame and game-breaking explosion, but he has the upside to be an even better pro receiver.”

He was only a sophomore last season with Missouri. Burden III could very well be one of the top wide receivers taken in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Dec 29, 2023; Arlington, Texas, USA; Missouri Tigers wide receiver Luther Burden III (3) runs into Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Devin Brown (33) during warm-ups prior to the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic against the Missouri Tigers at AT&T Stadium.

Last year with the Tigers, he caught 86 passes for 1,212 yards receiving, and nine touchdowns. Luther Burden III also averaged 14.1 yards per reception. He also rushed for 31 yards on seven carries and zero touchdowns, along with averaging 4.4 yards per carry.

If he was in the NFL Draft in 2024, he would have been one of the top wide receivers. However, Luther Burden III will have to wait for his name to be called in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Washington Commanders could use a number one wide receiver.

The Washington Commanders could make a move for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk before the start of the 2024 season. However, the top two wide receivers for the Commanders this season will be Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson.
