This college football season will be one of the most interesting ones in a long time. We have a lot of new coaches, a lot of new quarterbacks, and a lot of transfers all over the country.
One team, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, has both a new coach, and will have a new quarterback.
Marcus Freeman has already proven himself as a great defensive coach. Also, he is proving himself as a recruiter getting in the top 10 for the overall recruits that committed to Notre Dame in 2022.
It is up to him to keep this team a national title contender year in and year out like Kelly did.
One of the biggest stories out of South Bend is the quarterback competition between Tyler Buchner and Drew Pyne.
Notre Dame was inconsistent with Jack Coan under center last year. The offense was very hit or miss.
Even though Pyne has more playing experience than Buchner, he struggled in the Spring game. Also, he does not have the running ability like Buchner.
Last year, Buchner was used most of the time for running situations. With that being said, he has a lot of work to do as a passer.
According to reports, Buchner is leading the race for starting quarterback.
This is a new offense for Notre Dame with a new offensive line, not a lot of depth at wide receiver, and no Kyren Williams to hand the ball off to as he has moved on to the NFL.
This season won’t be easy as they play national championship contender Ohio State in Columbus to start the season. They will also play BYU, Clemson, USC, and other opponents that won’t be an “easy” win.
There will be no excuses going forward with this new era in Notre Dame football.
