We’re a month into football and our teams are continuing to take shape. I know some aren’t as lucky as others and may be sitting winless or with a single win. There’s still time to turn your season around as long as you’re persistent with adapting. In the Waiver Wire Week 5 edition, I’ll be adding a few more names than usual to really stretch the options out.
Be sure you’re staying on top of your waivers, I always recommend waiting until the afternoon or after dinner to sit down and submit waivers. Those that keep up with me, I’m back from my trip Las Vegas and am ready to help my Fantasy Football Family with the Waiver Wire Week 5 Edition!
Key Injuries to consider:
- Eli Mitchell remains out
- Dak Prescott has chance to play
- Javonte Williams (knee) out for season
- Cordarrelle Patterson (knee) placed on IR
- Jonathan Taylor (ankle) may still play Thursday
- Treylon Burks (toe) missing some time to recover; no surgery needed
- Jamison Crowder (ankle) season-ending IR
- Jahan Dotson (hamstring) may miss two weeks
Waiver Wire targets by positions
Quarterbacks
- Kenny Pickett @BUF – rostered: 6% Yahoo / 4% ESPN
- Teddy Bridgewater @NYJ – rostered: 2% Yahoo / 0.2% ESPN
- Cooper Rush @LAR – rostered 6% Yahoo / 2.5% ESPN
- Desmond Ridder @TB – rostered 1% Yahoo / 0.6% ESPN
Pickett will definitely need to be picked up moving forward. Although, I’m not confident in how his first start with Buffalo will fair; he’s still a must add. Bridgewater is taking over for Tua, who was completely mishandled medically – story for another day – Bridgewater does do well in relief periods, with Cheetah and Penguin out there, we wish Tua fast recovery. I’m adding Ridder as an add due to Mariota’s poor performance. I do expect it to continue against Tampa Bay, which will likely lead to Ridder getting an opportunity.
Running backs
- Tyler Allgeier @TB – rostered: 19% Yahoo / 16.8% ESPN
- Latavius Murray vs IND – rostered: 1% Yahoo / 0.2% ESPN
- Isiah Pacheco vs LV – rostered: 19% Yahoo / 10.5% ESPN
- Rachaad White vs ATL – rostered: 27% Yahoo / 11.3% ESPN
In a next man up situation, Allgeier seems to be the next back to take over with Patterson heading to IR due to a knee surgery. He should be a top-add for you, if you’re hurting for a runningback. Another name that’s been making waves is Rachaad White, OC Leftwich has been vocal on getting White more touches. Fournette was a bit ineffective and White added upside to compliment a struggling Fournette. He may not take over but could develop stand-alone value!
Wide Receivers
- George Pickens @BUF – rostered: 39% Yahoo / 37.6% ESPN
- Josh Reynolds @NE – rostered: 20% Yahoo / 10.6% ESPN
- Alec Pierce @DEN – rostered: 5% Yahoo / 7.6% ESPN
- Zay Jones vs HST – rostered: 28% Yahoo / 35.6% ESPN
- Romeo Doubs vs NYG – rostered: 69% Yahoo / 46% ESPN
- Michael Gallup @LAR – rostered: 41% Yahoo / 46.5% ESPN
Josh Reynolds is slowly emerging in this high scoring Detroit offense as, at least, the 2nd WR option but 3rd in term of targets. He took full advantage of ARSB and Chark both missing this past Sunday’s game. He finished with: 7 catches on 8 targets for 81 yards and one touchdown.
Tight Ends
- Chigoziem Okonkwo – rostered: 0% Yahoo / 0% ESPN
- Robert Tonyan vs NYG –rostered: 32% Yahoo / 21.7% ESPN
- Hayden Hurst @BLT – rostered: 21% Yahoo / 21.4% ESPN
Hurst is definitely a personal preference. I do believe he has a great chance still to finish in the top 10 of TEs and he’s definitely shown flashes of this capability. Okonkwo is another prospect I’ve been excited for. He had an excellent combine and was drafted to a Titans team that needed TEs. He was given an opportunity against the Colts and was able to score a touchdown. He’s definitely a TE to consider long-term, he draws comparison to, former-Titan, Jonnu Smith.
Waiver Wire: Stash Options
Week 3 Darlings
- Jamal Agnew – likely benefited from Zay Jones being ruled out
- Mo Alie-Cox – still not seeing enough snaps to hold real value.
- Matt Ryan – took advantage of his favorable matchup, not likely a strong QB2 play, best in SF leagues only.
Injury Insurance
- Malik Willis
- Eno Benjamin
- Khalil Shakir
