The Minnesota Vikings had one of the more shocking off-seasons across the NFL. Just six months ago most fans thought Kirk Cousins would re-sign with the team and they’d be once again competing for a playoff spot in 2024. However, Cousins choosing to sign with Atlanta completely changed the direction of Minnesota’s franchise.
Now the Vikings will be rolling with Sam Darnold in 2024 and hoping that JJ McCarthy not only recovers from his injury, but turns into their next franchise quarterback.
Ahead of week one, Minnesota had some good news to share.
The Minnesota Vikings Announce Major News Ahead Of Week One
According to Star Tribune’s Andrew Krammer:
Jordan Addison is in a “good spot” in his recovery from an ankle sprain last month, Kevin O’Connell said. Expectation is Addison will ramp up to full practice participation this week after being limited on Monday.
Jalen Nailor also dealing with an ankle injury.
According to coach Kevin O’Connell, he anticipates that Addison will be able to get more practice reps and eventually be able to play:
“We’d like to kind of progress him,” O’Connell said Wednesday, “hopefully to full [participation] by the end of the week. I think Jordan’s in a good spot, and I feel pretty good about him making the game.”
According to the team’s first injury report of the week, Addison has been listed as a limited participant. His ankle injury in the middle of August kept him out of practice for a few weeks, but the Vikings did not express much concern about his availability heading into week one against the Giants.
The news of Addison being on track to play in the season opener is massive for the offense and Sam Darnold who is looking to prove he can once again be “the guy” for a franchise.
