The Minnesota Vikings no doubt was thin at the wide receiver position. Jordan Addison is suspended for the first three games of the 2025 NFL season.

Justin Jefferson is the Vikings number one wide receiver option, but they don’t have much depth after that. Former Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen was with Minnesota from 2014 to 2022 and has been with the Carolina Panthers for the last two seasons. There were rumors going around the other day that Thielen could potentially be traded back to Minnesota from Carolina.
Minnesota Vikings Officially Acquire Wide Receiver Adam Thielen From the Carolina Panthers

On Wednesday morning, the Vikings and the Panthers finalized a trade. Adam Schefter of ESPN reported on his Twitter page,
“Homecoming: Panthers and Vikings are finalizing a trade for WR Adam Thielen to return to Minnesota, sources tell ESPN. The trade: Vikings get Thielen, a conditional 2026 seventh-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick. Panthers get a 2026 fifth-round pick and a 2027 fourth-round pick. Thielen starred for the Vikings from 2013-2022. Now he returns.”
During the 2024 season with Carolina, he appeared in 10 games. Thielen caught 48 passes for 615 yards receiving and five touchdowns, along with averaging 12.8 yards per reception. He was also targeted 62 times. It will be interesting to see how Thielen will do as the number two wide receiver option for Minnesota for quarterback J.J. McCarthy early on in the season.
He is 35 years old and was successful at the wide receiver when he played for Minnesota. Thielen must be thrilled that he is heading back to play for the Vikings.
