Friday’s report disclosed that the Miami Dolphins will pay Vic Fangio over $4.5 million per year for three years. This deal makes Fiango the highest-paid coordinator in the NFL.

Most recently, in 2022, Vic Fangio was a defensive consultant for the Philadelphia Eagles. He was 19-30 with the Broncos before that from 2019-2021. It was his first head coaching position.
Vic Fangio spent 19 seasons as an NFL defensive coordinator:
- Carolina Panthers (1995-98)
- Indianapolis Colts (1999-2001)
- Houston Texans (2002-05)
- San Francisco 49ers (2011-14)
- Chicago Bears (2015-18)
Fiango was also at Stanford in 2010.
The fact that the Dolphins are willing to throw them dollars shows confidence in their growth for the 2023 season. Not only does it show confidence in Vic Fangio, but in Mike McDaniels. McDaniels proved himself last season by leading the Dolphins to the playoffs for the first time since 2016.
Fangio could be a great addition to the Dolphins. Even if we didn’t think so, someone very important obviously did, because $4.5 million?! There really hasn’t been much backlash.
The Dolphins fired Josh Boyer, defensive coordinator, on January 19 after three seasons.
