The Los Angeles Rams drafted Jared Verse 19th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft from the Florida State Seminoles. During the 2024 season, many were wondering how the Rams were going to replace the production on defense with defensive tackle Aaron Donald retiring.

Verse made an impact during his rookie season with the Rams. This is only the beginning for the 24-year-old edge rusher. There is a chance that he makes a massive jump during his second NFL season and people across the league are already noticing his talents.
Los Angeles Rams Edge Rusher Jared Verse Already Receiving Praise Across the NFL

Jeremy Fowler of espn.com talked to many different executives, coaches, and scouts across the league about the edge rusher position. They think that Verse is the 10th best edge rusher in the NFL, as reported by Fowler. With him only being a rookie, he still has a ton of room to grow. One NFC personnel executive said,
“He’s a man. Very unique strength.”
During the 2024 season, he recorded 66 tackles, 4.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and two pass deflections. In the postseason, Verse had six tackles and two sacks. Verse was also the rookie of the year on defense. However, an NFC executive thinks that he is not a Top 10 player at his own position. They said,
“It’s not that he’s not ascending into a premier rusher, but he’s not ahead of some of the others who are more productive or better run players right now.”
Verse is going to prove in his second season that he is one of the Top 10 edge rushers in the NFL. The Rams won the NFC West division in 2024, and they will be the favorites in that division in 2025. He is the building block of Los Angeles’s defense for the immediate future. Verse is going to make a massive jump from year one to year two.
