USC receiver Kyron Hudson has officially entered the transfer portal. Hudson is a junior and was the Trojans’ number three receiver this season. He caught 38 passes for 462 yards and three touchdowns. Hudson joins USC quarterback Miller Moss in the transfer portal after the Trojans’ disappointing debut season in the Big Ten conference. Kyron Hudson was a four-star recruit out of high school in Mater Dei, California, and has shown a clear talent at the receiver position. Now, he will look to find a new school to finish out his collegiate career.
USC’s Disappointing Season

Kyron Hudson’s transfer is another blow to the USC Trojans. In recent memory, USC had one of their most disappointing seasons, finishing with a 6-6 record. This makes them barely bowl-eligible. Many expected USC to compete for a top spot in the Big 10, like their fellow Pac-12 rival, Oregon. They had a talented roster with many top recruits under a potent Lincoln Riley offense. However, the season quickly turned south for the Trojans. They struggled in Big 10 conference play, going 4-5 after starting the season ranked highly. This has led to many players transferring, including Kyron Hudson and quarterback Miller Moss.
The USC Trojans’ season got off to a good start. They defeated #13 ranked LSU 27-20 with great performances from Kyron Hudson and Miller Moss. Hudson led the Trojans in receiving, catching five passes for 83 yards. Moss threw for 378 yards and a touchdown. However, that was the most passing yards a USC starting quarterback would have all season. Furthermore, Kyron Hudson never had more receiving yards in any game for the rest of the season. This victory in their opening game had the Trojans optimistic about their team. But their season went downhill from there, leading to their star quarterback and wide receiver entering the transfer portal to play elsewhere.
The downfall for USC started when they lost their first game to Michigan. Michigan was not the same team that won the National Championship last year, and both teams failed to meet their expectations this season. USC then went on to lose three consecutive one-score games to Minnesota, Penn State, and Maryland. The Trojans lost two more games to Washington and Notre Dame. During that time, they also made a quarterback switch, benching Miller Moss for Jayden Maiava. Kyron Hudson also struggled in this stretch and only eclipsed 50 receiving yards in two games after week one.
Where Kyron Hudson Goes from Here

Kyron Hudson led the USC Trojans in receiving in three games. There was the previously mentioned performance against LSU, where Hudson had five catches for 83 yards. Then, against Minnesota, Kyron Hudson caught five passes for 54 yards. Finally, against UCLA, Hudson had one of his best games with six catches for 79 yards. Those three games were the only games where Hudson had five or more receptions. He had three touchdowns this season against Penn State, Maryland, and Nebraska. Against Penn State, Hudson caught four passes for 36 yards and the touchdown, and against Maryland, he had four catches for 41 yards and a touchdown.
The USC receiver had a solid season, considering he was not a first option in the offense. Hudson finished the year with 462 receiving yards and three touchdowns, averaging 12.2 yards per reception. He made multiple highlight plays, and as a former four-star recruit, should have no trouble finding a home in the transfer portal. The USC Trojans had a disappointing season, and now Kyron Hudson is looking to find a role on a new offense. The Trojans will have to regroup for next season, losing multiple key players to the transfer portal. Meanwhile, Hudson will aim to improve his stock and get more opportunities for a new team.
