USC didn’t have the Big Ten welcome party they wanted when they visited Ann Arbor to face Michigan. USC lost the game 27-24 after a late go-ahead touchdown from the Wolverines.
The Trojans had a rough day overall, and they let a team that only threw for 32 yards beat them. USC needed this wake-up call after their nice win against LSU in Week One.

USC has a lot of learning to do this season about how the Big Ten plays and the Trojans got dominated at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball for four quarters.
Many USC fans were not happy with the officials, and some blamed them for the loss, even though the officials had a rough day on the field. Michigan won the game fairly, but one video that left a USC player hospitalized after a dirty hit has been going around.
USC Player Gets Hit Hard

After USC’s loss, a video went viral on the internet showing one of their players, Makai Lemon, getting hit by an illegal blindside block while he was playing the gunner role on the punt.
Shocking that this was not called. This hit sent Makai to the hospital. One guy ties him up, the other hits him with a completely illegal blindside hit. Shameful from the @bigten officials that this wasn’t called. Absolute joke. https://t.co/21lxgeu0ov pic.twitter.com/rCzOmYfTss

The Michigan player came up and hit him illegally, and Lemon was sent to the hospital because of it, and a flag was not thrown on the play.
USC fans were mad about the hit and the lack of a call. Here are some of their reactions.
Targeting, Holding, Blindside Block, Unnecessary Roughness all could have been called.

I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this first hand. As a Husker fan we’ve experienced this nonsense since entering the B1G. It’s absolutely shameful. I’d like to say it gets better, but it hasn’t for us.

A man is in the hospital as a result of this. Absolutely horrid officiating.

And then stood over him. Targeting and ejection needed to be called.
