Urban Meyer stepped down as Ohio State’s head coach in 2018, and offensive coordinator Ryan Day took over. Day has done a pretty solid job in his first five seasons, winning 11 or more games in every season besides 2020 due to a shortened season, appearing in three College Football Playoffs, and losing in one title game.
Ryan Day Can’t Get Past Michigan

Ryan Day has struggled to get past Michigan, only winning once in four matchups. For the last three years, Michigan has won every game and even won the National Championship last season, leaving a sour taste in every Buckeye player, coach, and fan’s mouth. If things don’t turn around for Day this year, could there be a possibility that he will not be back in 2025 and Urban Meyer will come back?
Urban Meyer Returns To Ohio State

On the sports talk show Crain & Company, they discussed Urban Meyer returning to Ohio State and taking over the head coaching job again. They talk about Meyer’s image getting hurt by what happened with the Jacksonville Jaguars and how returning to Ohio State could help him get back in the spotlight.
Meyer will be 61 years old next year, so he could have many seasons left to coach. But does he want to coach again, and would Ohio State fire Ryan Day?

It will be very hard for the Buckeyes to fire Day even if he loses to Michigan again because he will win over 11 games and make the College Football Playoff. We saw Jim Harbaugh lose five straight to Ohio State before winning three in a row and a title, so Day probably will keep his job, and he most likely will only leave Ohio State if he goes on his terms.
