Urban Meyer knows how to win the SEC, and he did a lot of it when he was the head coach at Florida. Meyer won two SEC titles and two national championships while coaching the Gators, and he thinks one of his former rivals has a shot at competing for an SEC title this season.
Tennessee has a 4-0 record and two big wins against North Carolina State and Oklahoma, making it one of the favorites to win it all this season.
While the Volunteers weren’t one of the favorites to make the SEC title game coming into the season, they have now established themselves as legitimate threats. However, they still have Georgia and Alabama on their schedule, and they will need to win at least one of those games to make it to Atlanta.
Urban Meyer Loves Tennessee This Season
Meyer believes Tennessee has a great chance of making the SEC title game, and on his podcast, The Triple Option, he stated that he has Tennessee playing Georgia in the SEC championship.
It would be crazy to see Tennessee make the SEC title because Texas looks like the best team in the county right now, and Georgia is right behind them. Both schools do have to play each other this season. It could knock the other one out.
Alabama also has a great chance of reaching the SEC championship, and if it beats Georgia on Saturday night, it can start to pack a little early for Atlanta.
The SEC will be competitive this season, and around six teams are fighting for two spots in the SEC title game: Alabama, Texas, Georgia, Tennessee, Missouri, and Ole Miss.
