The Cleveland Browns finished with a 5-12 record this season and missed the playoffs for the second straight season. Despite that, there was a major bright spot in Cleveland’s season. Myles Garrett was the unanimous defensive player of the year. He broke Michael Strahan’s sack record during the season.

Before Garrett signed a contract extension with the Browns last offseason, he requested a trade from the Browns. With more organizational changes this offseason, should he want out of Cleveland, or should he stay and continue to be a Browns icon?
Cleveland Browns DE Myles Garrett Should Consider Requesting a Trade This Offseason

Mark Powell of fansided.com wrote about seven different players who could potentially requests trades this offseason. He thinks that Garrett could potentially request a trade for the second offseason in a row. Powell said,
“Second time is a charm, right? While the Browns are unlikely to trade Garrett, who is coming off a record-breaking 23 sacks in 2025-26, he clearly wasn’t happy with the fallout from Cleveland’s head-coaching hire. Garrett surely doesn’t have anything against Todd Monken personally, but if hiring him means the Browns lose Jim Schwartz, who is arguably the best defensive coordinator in the NFL, then was it really worth it?
Garrett loves Cleveland, and always will. What he’s tired of are the Browns antics. Every offseason offers a different drama, and this year’s mistakes came early in the form of a botched head-coaching search. Garrett used his platform during last year’s Super Bowl media row to get the Browns attention, and ink a record-breaking contract. He backed that up with the best season an EDGE rusher’s ever had. What more does he need to prove individually?
Forcing a trade out of Cleveland will not be easy. For Garrett’s sake, let’s hope he eventually does so. The Browns aren’t winning a Lombardi with their high-priced defensive MVP on the roster.”
Garrett is 30 years old. During the 2025 season, he recorded 60 tackles, 23 sacks, three forced fumbles, and one pass deflection. Time is potentially running out for him to win a Super Bowl else. If he is still in Cleveland next season, Garrett is probably not going to win one during his career and he will probably never leave Northeast Ohio anyways.
