There is no question that Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day is facing an uphill battle entering the matchup this weekend against the Tennessee Volunteers. Day is 66-10 as head coach of the Buckeyes, he has lost four straight games against the Michigan Wolverines and has not won a National Title with the program.
If the Buckeyes were to not win it all again this season, it would be another failure season for the program. There is a ton of pressure on them to win it all this season and it is not going to be easy to win the new college football playoffs.
Josh Pate of CBS Sports Thinks That Ohio State Buckeyes Head Coach Ryan Day Is Under Pressure To Win Entering the Tennessee Volunteers Matchup
On Tuesday, Josh Pate of CBS Sports talked about the Tennessee Volunteers and Ohio State Buckeyes matchup. Pate, just like many other college football analysts across the globe, can’t stop talking about the Buckeyes head coach. He said about Ryan Day entering the Tennessee game:
“I think there’s a unique kind of pressure on Ryan Day in this game that I don’t know that we’ve seen in quite a while.”
This is very true. Imagine if the Buckeyes are trailing early against the Volunteers. It could be a long and ugly game for them if that’s the case. If Ohio State were to lose against Tennessee, there is no question that many fans will call for him to be fired, just like they did after they lost to the Michigan Wolverines.
Winner Faces the Oregon Ducks
The Buckeyes and Volunteers winner will face the #1 Oregon Ducks in the next round of the college football playoffs. If Ohio State were to advance, Ryan Day has a chance to avenge himself for losing to Oregon 32-31 on the road earlier this college football season.
However, if Tennessee wins, then there is a chance that Day will not be the head coach of the Buckeyes in 2025 despite the fact he has received support from the university. There is no doubt that this will be the game that will either make or break Day’s time with the program.
