Following reports of Tyreek Hill’s traffic stop with police, NFL fans are curious why the Miami Dolphins wide receiver chose not to comply with an officer’s requests.
Hill was detained following a traffic stop that occurred while the receiver was en route to Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday. According to Hill’s citation, he was pulled over for allegedly going 60 miles per hour, per the officer’s estimation.
Video of Hill being detained has gone viral on social media. It appears as though the officer’s detaining Hill could have been less physical with the wide receiver.
The police are standing by their actions
The South Florida Police Benevolent Association (police union) issued a statement Monday that stood by the reason for Hill being pulled over. The union claims Hill was uncooperative during the traffic stop, which is why he was detained.
The Dolphins have publicly backed Hill.
Hill appears to not adhere to the traffic cop’s commands during the stop.
A former police chief said the officers did nothing wrong
Per an interview with Erin Keller of Newsweek, former Boca Raton Police Chief Andrew J. Scott said the police officers did nothing wrong:
“As a well-trained police officer, this is now a potentially dangerous situation for me,” Scott said, via Newsweek. “I can’t see the driver. He’s not following commands. He’s in a 5000-pound vehicle that he could speed away. Maybe he’s going to grab a weapon. I’m concerned. Let me pull him out and get him onto the ground, and let’s find out what’s going on.”
NFL fans are curious why Tyreek Hill did not comply with police
The situation appears to be an unfortunate accumulation of issues with both sides. Hill should have been more compliant with the police at the beginning of the traffic stop. Police could have been less aggressive toward Hill.
If Hill had complied with police, he likely wouldn’t have been detained.
Many on social media are taking Hill’s side on the traffic stop. Others are curious why Hill chose not to comply with the officer.
If you aren’t going to comply with the police and roll your window down or give the requested documents at the time of the traffic stop…………….. why’d you pull over? I’m genuinely curious. #TyreekHill #police

“i didn’t comply with a lawful order cause i’m tyreek hill and i didn’t wanna be seen in a traffic stop” lmao
he didn’t comply, period.
if you’re wronged, you comply, and THEN you take it to court.
it’s a simple concept, surely you can comprehend it, no?— Stipe Myopic (@skydd14) September 10, 2024
Requesting to put the window back down is a lawful order in florida is really what this boils down to.
Were the police officers a-holes? Yes. Did Tyreek Hill comply with a lawful order after refusing to put the window up? No.
Once you don’t comply, you’re playing with fire.

Stop with the race baiting narrative. We all see Tyreek Hill did not comply and acted in a manner threatening to the lives of the officers.

If I don’t comply, I get obstruction and then resisting – and prob spend 4 hours in jail.
But I’m not Tyreek Hill

Tyreek Hill, man up, own up and stop playing the victim. All you had to do was comply.

@Tyreek Hill has no one to blame but himself. @MiamiPD asked him to roll his window down and keep it down. Every stop puts an officer at risk and tinted windows could hide a gun so all he had to do was comply.

Why didn’t he just comply with the officer’s request to keep the window down? It was not an unusual request. Even if it was a demand, they were investigating an individual who was breaking the law. He deserved to be arrested for non-compliance. #TyreekHill
