The Kansas City Chiefs are adding to their pass-catching arsenal in Week 12 following their first loss of the season. The Chiefs dropped a 30-21 contest to the Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium on Sunday. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes went 23-of-33 for 196 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions against the Bills.
The Chiefs have two of their top wide receivers sidelined for injury. Rashee Rice (knee) is out for the season. Marquise “Hollywood” Brown (knee) could return for a postseason run. Kansas City traded for DeAndre Hopkins midseason. He caught three passes for 29 yards on Sunday.
The Kansas City Chiefs added a wide receiver
Per Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network, the Chiefs added former New England Patriots wide receiver Tyquan Thornton to the practice squad on Monday.
“Former Patriots WR Tyquan Thornton is signing with the Chiefs practice squad,” Rapoport wrote. “A fresh start for the former second-round pick who was waived Saturday.”

Tyquan Thornton was a standout for the Baylor Bears
Thornton was a standout for the Baylor Bears. He earned second-team All-Big 12 honors for the 2021 season, his final year with the Bears. He racked up 2,242 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns at Baylor.
The Patriots selected Thornton with the No. 50 pick in the 2022 draft. The Miami, Florida native appeared in 28 games and started 13 in his three seasons in New England. The graduate of Booker T. Washington High School played in six games and started in one for the Patriots in 2024.
Thronton recorded 39 receptions on 76 targets for 385 yards and two touchdowns with the Patriots. He added one touchdown on the ground. He’ll have a chance to work his way into an offense that has a way of bringing out the best in talented wide receivers if he can find a connection with Mahomes.
