Two Saints players will begin the start of training camp still recovering from their lingering injuries. It was reported by Nick Underhill that Michael Thomas and Marcus Davenport will begin the start of training camp on the PUP list.
The Saints placed Michael Thomas and Marcus Davenport on the PUP list to start camp.
I don't expect either player to remain on there too long but makes sense to begin there as they continue to rehab injuries.

Michael Thomas

Getting back Thomas to his normal self will be key for the Saints’ offense to take off in 2022. Thomas has been recovering from a complicated ankle injuries and subsequent surgeries. Thomas’ 2020 season was limited to only in 2020 because of an ankle injuries and was kept out of the entire 2021 season. When on the field, Thomas has been the focal point for the passing game for the black and gold. He set the NFL’s single-season record for receptions (149) and led the league in receiving yards (1, 725) in 2019.
It was reported on Tuesday that Dennis Allen and the New Orleans Saints are optimistic about the return of the star receiver for training camp. Saints fans will have to wait and see of just how long Thomas stays on the PUP list.

Marcus Davenport

Davenport will be missing some time at the start of training camp. The defensive end had to amputate part of his left pinky due to a recurring infection from a broken plate that dates back to an injury he suffered in college. Davenport has dealt with multiple injuries in his career and is yet to play a full season with the Saints.
Davenport has had issues with staying on the field with multiple stint on the injured reserve list. The Saints are hoping that Davenport will be back to 100% this season.
The expectation is that the 25-year old will be healthy in order to get back into action for the 2022 season. In his four seasons with the Saints, Davenport has racked up 113 tackles, 23 tackles for loss and 21 sacks.
