Iowa Football fans need to act fast if they want tickets to Kinnick Stadium for the biggest games of the season. Two of the biggest home matchups of the year have already sold out. Those matchups are the Sept. 17 Cy-Hawk game against Iowa State and the Oct. 1 BIG Ten Championship rematch against Michigan.

Officially Kinnick Stadium holds 69,250 for football but the Kaevon Merriweather graphic is correct, 70,000 sounds much better.

    Cy-Hawk Series Continues

Iowa and ISU typically alternate home games each year for the football edition of the Cy-Hawk Series. Due to the COVID pandemic, the Cyclones have not been to Iowa City since the 2018 season. That game ended in a 13-3 Hawkeyes win, one of 6-straight wins over the in-state rival. Iowa football holds a 48-22 series edge all time with its longest winning streak against ISU at 15 games (1983-1997).

The upcoming Cy-Hawk game has a lot to follow after last season’s iteration. It was the first time the Hawkeyes and Cyclones met with both teams ranked. ISU was a slight favorite in the game, ranked 9th in the country, followed by Iowa at 10. It was a struggle for both teams early on but in classic Iowa football fashion, the Hawkeye defense took the game over down the stretch. Iowa pulled out a 27-17 win in Ames.

    Michigan Back In Kinnick

The recent memory of Iowa vs. Michigan is not as sweet for the Hawkeye faithful. Iowa was walloped by the Wolverines in last season’s BIG Ten Championship game 42-3. Including that game, Michigan has won two in a row against the Hawkeyes dating back to 2019 at the Big House. Iowa won the two matchups before that and has a streak of 4-straight wins over Big Blue at home. The Wolverines will be on upset alert when they come to Iowa City again in October.

    Home Schedule

With ISU and Michigan being tough tickets to get in the secondary market, here are the other options for home game at Kinnick Stadium this season:

    • Sept. 3 vs. South Dakota State
    • Sept. 17 vs. Nevada
    • Oct. 29 vs. Northwestern
    • Nov. 12 vs. Wisconsin
    • Nov. 25 vs. Nebraska
