Mitchell Trubisky did enough throughout preseason to earn the starting QB job for the Steelers. He threw for 283 yards and 2 TDS, with no interceptions over the course of 3 preseason games (Seahawks, Jaguars, and Lions).
The Steelers QB competition was pretty solid for the most part. Rookie Kenny Pickett showed talent in his first 3 NFL games. Pickett was 29 for 36 with 261 passing yards, 3 TDS, and 0 interceptions. Overall, it was a pretty impressive preseason for Pickett. Though, it was always going to be tough to jump right into the starting role as a rookie.
Trubisky has more experience than Pickett and was a solid starter for the Bears (Record as a starter: 29-21). Despite the Steelers going with Trubisky as the starter for week one @ Cincinnati, he will have to continue to prove himself, otherwise Pickett will be given an opportunity to run the offense in Pittsburgh.
The real question is…will Pickett have a chance to be starter at any point this season??
