Trey Hendrickson, defensive end for the Cincinnati Bengals, is still continuing to negotiate with the team for a contract extension. Hendrickson and the Bengals already made news during this NFL offseason as both parties have failed to arrive at a proper negotiation. While the talks were going on for some time, it looks like they have arrived at a standstill.

According to recent reports, the Cincinnati Bengals have offered Hendrickson a deal worth much less than what he hoped for. Former NFL linebacker, Manti Te’o recently explained that he did speak with Hendrickson who admitted that the team had tried to lowball him.

“He’s like bro, ‘They are atrociously, atrociously low.” Matin Te’o said on Good Morning Football about Trey Hendrickson and the Cincinnati Bengals.

Meanwhile, Trey Hendrickson has failed to appear in the training camp with the Cincinnati Bengals which kicked off this week. The talented defensive end also shared an Instagram post of himself on a Florida highway, hinting that he is leaving Cincinnati behind for better pastures.

Trey Hendrickson has been with the team since the 2021 NFL season and is easily considered one of the best defensive ends that the Cincinnati Bengals have boasted in recent years. After news of the negotiations between Hendrickson and the Bengals went public, numerous fans of the team have called out the franchise owners for not doing their part to retain a talented player like the defensive end.

Trey Hendrickson Ready For Lesser Money To Play For Bengals

Meanwhile, Trey Hendrickson himself admitted that he is ready to play for much less than he originally asked the Cincinnati Bengals for. The defensive end had a recent conversation with reporter Dianna Russini of The Athletic and explained that despite being ready for lesser money, the deals he received from the Bengals were definitely not up to par.

“I was more than willing to take less in some ways in order to make this work” Trey Hendrickson said to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini.

Hendrickson also revealed that he decided to move away from the state and head down to Florida so as to not distract his teammates. The pass-rusher will actually be playing the final year of his contract with the Cincinnati Bengals if he decides to play in the upcoming NFL season. Trey Hendrickson’s main issue with the contract he received from the Cincinnati Bengals was because of the one-year period of guaranteed money.
