Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs responded to owner Jerry Jones’ decision to dock his pay $500,000 this offseason for missing OTAs while he recovered from a torn ACL he suffered in 2024.
Following Tuesday’s practice at the River Ridge Playing Fields in Oxnard, California, Diggs admitted he was upset by Jones’ position. He told Jane Slater of the NFL Network that he felt he could rehab better on his own than at the Cowboys’ facility.
Trevon Diggs was upset with Jerry Jones

“I was upset yesterday, because it’s not like I’m not putting the work in doing everything I’m supposed to do,” Diggs said. “Of course, (the Cowboys) do a great job here, but, I just thought it was for my best interest. So, you know, go somewhere else to rehab for my offseason.
“But it’s unfortunate, at the end of the day, hopefully I’ll make it back.”

The Dallas Cowboys punished Diggs for not showing up to OTAs

On Monday, Jones told reporters that he didn’t feel Diggs earned the money. The outspoken owner questioned Diggs’ leadership.
“He didn’t earn it,” Jones said of Diggs during OTAs. “He didn’t come. That’s in his contract. Those are contractual things. You’ve got 10-12% of people making two-thirds of the money. It’s incumbent on that group to lead.”
Diggs thinks his recovery plan worked. He told Slater that he’s “ahead of schedule” in his rehab process and that he feels “good” with his injury progress.
