Trevon Diggs, cornerback for the Dallas Cowboys, took a massive pay-cut as a result of his decision to not undergo rehab in the team’s facilities after his chondral bone graft surgery earlier this year. While the move by the team management has been called out as unfair, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones recently addressed it in a conversation with reporters.

Diggs missed all of the 2023 NFL season after injuring his knee during practice. In the 2024 season, the cornerback made it until the 11th week when he injured his knee again. According to Jones, the injury recurring was all because Diggs didn’t work hard enough during the rehab.
“He didn’t earn it. He didn’t come. That’s in his contract. Those are contractual things. You’ve got 10-12% of people making two thirds of the money. It’s incumbent on that group to lead.” Jerry Jones spoke about Trevon Diggs in his recent conversation with reporters.

Jerry Jones also highlighted the fact that Trevon Diggs is one of the highest-paid players on the Dallas Cowboys roster, and needs to do better as a role model for others. Of course, Diggs is not the only highly paid player in the team, which also has Micah Parsons to boast of.
Jerry Jones has been known to be pretty strict when it comes to his expectations of players’ behaviors. At the same time, Jones has also been known to be unconventional when it comes to dealing with players’ contracts, for instance, his treatment of linebacker Micah Parsons’ contract extension.
Trevon Diggs’ Team Owner Condemned By J.J. Watt
In the same conversation with reporters, Trevor Diggs’ team owner, Jerry Jones, did make comments on linebacker Micah Parsons’ contract extension. Jones did not hesitate to take a jab at Parsons’ deal, remarking that just because the team gave him a whopping contract, it does not mean that the player might be able to play for the entirety of the season. Former NFL defensive end, J.J. Watt, had much to say about Jerry Jones making light of Micah Parsons’ contract extension through a tweet from his X account.
“Anytime you can publicly take a dig at your star quarterback and your star pass rusher simultaneously, right before the season begins, you just gotta take it.” J.J. Watt tweeted about Jerry Jones and Micah Parsons.

Watt’s tweet was almost immediately retweeted by Micah Parsons himself. In recent days, Parsons himself did admit being frustrated about the Dallas Cowboys delaying his contract extension. Nevertheless, the player has shown up for the minicamp and will be present at the training camp as well.
