San Francisco 49ers left tackle Trent Williams earned his first first-team All-Pro honors in his 11th season in the NFL. The veteran LT can add another new accomplishment, but in the virtual world. He will become the first OL to earn a 99 rating in Madden’s video game.
Running back Adrian Peterson documented the moment Williams heard the historical news. He received EA Sport’s 99 Club gift box, which includes a 99 chain and other gifts from the company.
Members of the exclusive 99 club are announced before the release of the game. Williams is the first player known to be awarded a 99 rating. Madden NFL 23 drops on August 19, with the late John Madden donning the cover.

Trent Williams’ Career
Trent Williams attended the University of Oklahoma from 2006-2009 and earned unanimous All-American honors in his final season. After declaring for the NFL Draft, Washington selected Williams with the No. 4 overall pick.
He spent nine seasons in the nation’s capital, becoming one of the most dominant left tackles in the league. Prior to the 2020 campaign, Washington shipped the 33-year-old to the 49ers for a 2020 fifth-round pick and a 2021 third-rounder.
Trent Williams’ Efforts Aid 49ers’ Surprising Offensive Success
The nine-time Pro Bowl LT received a 98.3 Pro Football Focus grade last year, the highest total of any NFL player. The left tackle’s biggest responsibility is protecting the quarterback’s blindside. Williams is a master at the job, guiding the 49ers to top the NFL in 8.0 yards per pass. Garropolo threw 8.6 yards per pass.
Williams contributed to the excellent run-blocking displayed by San Fransisco. The Niners ran the ball 48.39 percent of their snaps, averaging 124.6 rushing yards (seventh in NFL) on 29.3 rushing attempts per game (sixth in NFL). San Fran’s running game totaled 2,166 yards, enough to place top 10 in the league.

What’s Next?
Williams enters his third season with the 49ers and has shown no signs of slowing down. San Fransisco lost to the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship round. With a question mark at QB, the Niners look to carry their success on both sides of the game into the 2022 season.
The left tackle seeks to add more accolades to his future hall of fame resume and contribute to the 49ers’ victories ahead.
