The Kansas City Chiefs have had an embarrassment of riches on the offensive side of the football in the 21st century with tight end Travis Kelce being one of the stars of the franchise. With the team having one of the best tight end rooms in the 21st century with Kelce being one of the biggest producers, it is no surprise to see his name appear.
However, there is a conversation of who could be the top tight end in the franchise’s last 25 years, as Tony Gonzalez and Travis Kelce both have been phenomenal. One NFL analyst made the Kansas City Chiefs All-Quarter Century team and listed Kelce above Gonzalez. Let’s take a deeper dive into the reasoning.
Travis Kelce Named Best Chiefs TE in the 2000s

Travis Kelce has been one of the top big-game performers since being drafted out of Cincinnati. CBS Sports’ Jared Dubin created the Kansas City Chiefs’ All-Quarter Century team with the depth chart included and the stats to back up why he listed Kelce ahead of Tony Gonzalez.
“They had the Hall-of-Famer Gonzalez for the first 12 years of his career, during which he made the Pro Bowl 10 times and was named a first-team All-Pro on five occasions and a second-teamer on four while catching 916 passes for 10,940 yards and 76 touchdowns. Somehow, it’s possible that he’s not even the best tight end in team history as Kelce’s 12 seasons he has also made 10 Pro Bowls, plus four All-Pro first teams and three second teams while catching 1,004 passes for 12,151 yards and 77 scores. (And he did that while appearing in just one catch-less game during his rookie season.)”
While it is certainly possible with the remainder of the Kansas City Chiefs roster to certainly run a Power T formation to have both Kelce and Gonzalez on the field, there is certainly a lot of talent in the tight end room for the All-Quarter Century team. With the Chiefs having a weaker wide receiver depth chart, this is something that could be considered if the team were on the field.
Who would be your starting tight end if you had to choose for the Kansas City Chiefs All-Quarter Century team?
