According to NFL insider Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, New England Patriots pass rusher Matthew Judon has been the center of trade talks.
Judon and the Patriots are at an impasse with contract talks which has caused many NFL teams to inquire about a trade featuring the veteran pass rusher.
Matthew Judon did not accept the New England Patriots’ contract offer
Judon and the Patriots have been struggling to get a contract done all offseason. According to Fowler, Judon was offered a contract by the Patriots, but he did not accept.
Multiple teams have inquired about trading for pass rusher Matthew Judon amid his contract stalemate with the #Patriots, per sources.

Judon is entering the final year of his deal in which he is owed $6.5 million. He is looking for a new contract before the 2024 season, and it might be someone other than the Patriots that ends up giving him that new contract.
New England Patriots pass rusher Matthew Judon could fit well on multiple teams
Many NFL teams would gladly welcome Judon’s pass-rushing abilities, but the fact that he is at a contract stalemate with the Patriots makes acquiring him that much more difficult.
A team that just traded for a pass rusher before getting the contract situation figured out now finds themselves in a situation wherein Judon could be of great help.
The New York Jets traded the Philadelphia Eagles a conditional third-round pick that could turn into a second-round pick for pass rusher Haason Reddick during the 2024 offseason. Now, before Reddick ever even practiced for the Jets, he is requesting to be traded away due to an inability to reach a contract agreement with the Jets.
The Jets have publicly stated that they won’t be trading Reddick away, but the former Eagles pass rusher has already racked up over $1 million in fines during his holdout. If they do end up parting ways with Reddick, they could learn from their mistake and acquire Judon after determining that they will be willing to pay him what he wants.
The team that lost Reddick after the 2023 season, the Philadelphia Eagles, could also use Judon’s help. The Eagles didn’t only lose Reddick, but they lost veteran defensive lineman Fletcher Cox to retirement. Judon could fill Reddick’s spot on the field while providing a veteran presence on the defensive line that the Eagles will miss without Cox.
Despite all the trade talks, Judon has expressed a desire to stay in New England. Judon said in an Associated Press article that he is not fond of the business side of the game.
“I’ve told you (reporters) of my desire to stay here,” said Judon. “With more years would come more money. That’s usually how a contract works, but it’s not up to me. (Wolf and Groh) come out here every day. You guys just don’t ask them questions.”
“Football and business are two different things. I love playing football. I love my teammates. I don’t like the business of football,” Judon said.
Fans from all over want New England Patriots pass rusher Matthew Judon on their team
Fans from all around the NFL want a pass rusher like Judon who can immediately come in and make a difference on their defense.
Judon, who started his career with the Baltimore Ravens in 2016, has had a massive jump in productivity since joining the Patriots. He was a two-time Pro Bowl selection during his five-year stint with the Ravens.
In the two full seasons he played with the Patriots, he was also selected to the Pro Bowl twice. In 2022 Judon even received votes for Defensive Player of the Year. His two most productive years when it comes to sack totals, 2021 and 2022, saw him finish with 12.5 sacks and 15.5 sacks, respectively.
Those two seasons with New England were the only two seasons in which Judon had double-digit sacks. Judon only played in four games in 2023, but many fans still think the veteran pass rusher could help their team succeed.
