Trade Kyle Pitts now. We are now basically a quarter of the way through the NFL season. At this point, trades start to become more juicy as we have a larger sample size to go off of. Trades are often the most fun but also nerve racking part of fantasy football. Nothing feels worse than trading a player away only for that player to help your opponent win a championship. However, it can also drastically improve your team. There is one player that I think it is time to trade. It is time to trade Kyle Pitts in fantasy football.
Trade Kyle Pitts In Fantasy Football
This may sound absolutely crazy but hear me out. The Falcons simply are not game planning to get him the ball. Head coach Arthur Smith commented after one game that they are not playing fantasy football in response to a question of why Pitts wasn’t getting targets. The Falcons are definitely more of a running team which doesn’t help Pitts’ value. However, one would think that Pitts is the type of player that you try and get the ball to a certain amount of times a game. Whatever the reason the fact is that Pitts is not producing.
Kyle Pitts First Four Weeks
Here are the stat lines from his first four games.
New Orleans Saints Week 1: 2 receptions 19 yards (7 targets)
Los Angeles Rams Week 2: 2 receptions 19 yards (3 targets)
Seattle Seahawks Week 3: 5 receptions 87 yards (8 targets)
Cleveland Browns Week 4: 1 reception 25 yards (4 targets)
He only had one game that you could argue was okay. One stat that is missing is touchdowns. Arguably the most important stat for fantasy football. Add a touchdown to any of the above stat lines and you are at least content with what your TE position is doing for you. For as big of a target Kyle Pitts is, one would think he would be a red zone monster. However, he simply isn’t being targeted.
Kyle Pitts Has Perceived Value
One of the challenges of trading is the player you are trading has to have perceived value. Convincing someone that Pitts is just starting off slow and it is only a matter of time before he goes off is not a hard sell. The good news for you is if you trade away Pitts, replacing your TE should not be hard. Taysom Hill is ranked 10 spots higher than Pitts in terms of points this season and probably is not hard to get. Honestly if someone made me choose who was going to score a touchdown this week, Pitts or Hill, I would choose Hill and sleep great tonight. Use Pitts to upgrade your 3rd RB or 2nd WR position.
It’s painful but it is time to trade Kyle Pitts in fantasy football. The Falcons simply are not targeting him in the way that we thought. Obviously anything can change but through 4 games it is not looking good. One thing to keep an eye out on is if rookie Desmond Ridder ever gets a chance at quarterback. He is a better passer than Marcus Mariota and could target Pitts more. However, as long as the Falcons keep winning, I don’t see a quarterback change in the future. Take a risk to improve your team for the long run and trade Kyle Pitts.
