With Week 6 in the books, we’re getting closer and closer to the midway point of the 2022 fantasy football season. Buy-low windows for budding talents like Breece Hall and Kenneth Walker have officially slammed shut, but fear not. There are still a handful of players whose current asking price doesn’t reflect the immense impact they could make for your team down the stretch this season. Be sure to make a move for these five players before it’s too late.
Joe Mixon (RB – CIN)
As things currently stand, Mixon may be my favorite buy low out of anyone in fantasy football. He’s seen some regression in the touchdown department after finding the end-zone 16 times a season ago, but still stands as the RB12 on the year nonetheless. Mixon leads the NFL with 15 rushing attempts inside the 10 and is still seeing elite usage in the passing game (5.3 targets per game). If a panicking league-mate is willing to ship Mixon away at a 10-20% discount, take advantage of that and get yourself a potential league winner.
George Kittle (TE – SF)
As if the early-season injury woes weren’t already enough to make frustrated owners begin to tilt, Kittle hasn’t seen nearly the amount of passing-game volume we’ve grown accustomed to over the years through four games. With the absence of premier left tackle Trent Williams, the team has primarily used Kittle as an extra blocker. Here’s the good news: head coach Kyle Shanahan hinted at a possible return for Williams as early as this week against the Chiefs. Last week, Kittle had his best game of the season, securing eight catches for 83 yards while running a route on 90.9% of his snaps. The window to buy low is closing.
Tee Higgins (WR – CIN)
The second Cincinnati Bengal to make the list, Higgins has had an up-and-down season to this point, predominantly due to a lingering ankle issue. While he’s had a handful of strong fantasy outings on the year, his season-long numbers don’t jump off the page. However, in his three healthy games, Higgins has looked like the dominant force owners drafted him to be, posting totals of 71, 93, and 124 receiving yards. After burning all that started him with a goose egg back in Week 5, Higgins managed a respectable fantasy output last week (10.7 PPR points) and managed to escape the game without re-aggravating the ankle. When fully healthy, he’s a locked and loaded WR1.
Travis Etienne (RB – JAX)
With each passing week, Etienne looks closer and closer to taking complete control of Jacksonville’s backfield. The Clemson product has seen double digit carries each of his last two games, averaging a robust 7.8 yards per carry over that span. He’s a far superior talent to running-mate James Robinson and has led the Jags’ backfield in snaps, yards, targets, and routes run over the past three weeks. He’s still yet to score a touchdown on the year, but the breakout game is coming. Buy while there’s still time.
Michael Gallup (WR – DAL)
This past offseason, the Dallas Cowboys made re-singing Gallup a top priority, inking him to a five-year, $62.5M deal. Last week, Gallup saw his highest snap percentage (76%) since returning from injury and while he managed just two catches for 18 yards, he saw a respectable seven targets and nearly 100 air yards. With Dak Prescott also set to return this week, the arrow is pointing up for Gallup. Right now, you can get him for cheap, which is a wise move to make ahead of Week 7’s juicy matchup against the Detroit Lions.
