With Madden’s full release right around the corner (August 19) everybody’s discussing the ratings. It’s always interesting to see which top college programs have the most and best pro players. Here are the Top Five USC Trojan ratings.
Tyron Smith LT 95 Overall
As one of the top offensive tackles in the NFL, it’s only fitting he was drafted ninth overall by the Dallas Cowboys in the famous 2011 NFL Draft. While at USC from 2008 – 2010 he started two full seasons at RT and LT and they went 17 – 9.
In 2009 as part of Pete Carroll’s last season in charge of USC, they went 9 – 4 and won the Emerald Bowl over 8 – 5 Boston College. Smith was an All-Pac-10 Honorable mention.
In 2010 the Trojans went 8 – 5 but missed out on bowl season because of the Reggie Bush Scandal, where they were banned from bowls for two seasons. For the season Smith was an All-Pac-10 First Team performer.
Robert Woods WR 86 Overall
Robert Woods was drafted in the second round at 41 by the Buffalo Bills in 2013. At USC from 2010 – 2012, the Trojans went 25 – 13 and made one bowl.
In 2010 USC went 8 – 5 and Woods caught 65 balls for 792 yards and six touchdowns. He also rushed six times for 50 yards. For his performance during the year he was named the Pac-10 freshman of the year and was First Team All-Pac-10.
In 2011 USC went 10 – 2 and Woods had 111 catches for 1292 yards and 15 TD’s. For this spectacular season Woods was a consensus First Team All-American and First Team All-Pac-12.
For the 2012 season, as the preseason No. 1 team in the country, USC disappointed with a 7 – 6 record, including a Sun Bowl loss to 7 – 7 Georgia Tech. Woods this year had 76 catches for 846 yards and 11 TD’s. He was also named a Second Team All-Pac-12 player.
Leonard Williams RE 83 Overall
Leonard Williams was drafted sixth overall by the New York Jets in 2015. A Trojans from 2012 – 2014, they went 26 – 14 and won two out of three bowls.
In 2012 USC went 7 – 6 and lost the Sun Bowl. Williams for the season had 64 total tackles, 13.5 for loss and eight of them were sacks. He also had an interception and 24 yard return. For this he was named Pac-12 Defensive Freshman of the Year.
For 2013 the Trojans went 10 – 4 and won the Las Vegas Bowl over 11 – 2 Fresno State (Derek Carr and Davante Adams were on the team).
This season Williams had 74 total tackles, 12.5 for loss and five of them were sacks. He also forced and recovered a fumble. He was named a First Team All-American and All-Pac-12 Team player.
During the 2014 season USC went 9 – 4 and won the Holiday Bowl over 9 – 4 Nebraska. For the season, Willams was named a First Team All-American and All-Pac-12 player for the second year in a row.
He had 80 total tackles, nine and a half for loss and seven were sacks. He also had an Int, three passes defended and fumbles forced, recovering one of the fumbles.
Michael Pittman Jr WR 83 Overall
Michael Pittman Jr was a second round pick at 34 by the Indianapolis Colts in 2020. At USC from 2016 – 2019, the Trojans went 34 – 18, losing two out of three bowls.
For 2016 USC went 10 – 3 and won the Rose Bowl for the first time in eight years, they beat No. 5 Penn State. While the team had major success, Pittman as a freshman didn’t have much of an opportunity. He had six catches for 82 yards.
During the 2017 season the Trojans went 11 – 3 and lost the Cotton Bowl to No. 5 Ohio State. Again the team had major success while he had a minimal impact, at least offensively. He had 23 catches for 404 yards and two TD’s. He also was a First Team All-Pac-12 player as a special team returner.
In 2018 while he made a much bigger impact as an individual, the team was bad and went 5 – 7. He had 41 catches for 758 yards and six TD’s.
2019 was where Pittman made a name for himself. He caught 101 balls for 1275 yards and 11 TD’s and was a First Team All-Pac-12 player and a second team All-American. The Trojans went 8 – 5 and lost the Holiday Bowl to 10 – 3 Iowa.
Adoree’ Jackson CB 82 Overall
Adoree’ Jackson was picked 18 by the Tennessee Titans in 2017. A Trojan from 2014 – 2016, they went 27 – 13 and won two out of three bowls.
In 2014 Jackson had 49 total tackles with four of them being for loss. He also had nine passes defended and one forced fumble and recovery. He was named the Pac-12 Freshman Defensive Player of the Year and USC went 9 – 4 and won the Holiday Bowl.
For 2015 he had 35 total tackles and an Int, which he returned for a TD. He also had eight passes defended and one fumble recovery. He was named a First Team All-Pac-12 player and the Trojans went 8 – 6, but lost the Holiday Bowl to 10 – 3 Wisconsin.
In 2016 USC went 10 -3 and won the Rose Bowl over No. 5 Penn State. He had 55 total tackles, two of them for loss. He also had five Ints, 11 passes defended and a forced fumble and recovery.
For this season he won the Jim Thorpe award as the best defensive back in the country. He also was named a First Team All-Pac-12, All-American player and was the conference defensive player of the year.
