Top 5 NFL Fanbases that Deserve a Super Bowl

Throughout its’ 101 year existence, the NFL has seen 20 different teams lift the Lombardi Trophy. 3 out of the 5 teams listed below have never accomplished such a feat.. However they deserve it more than anyone else…

5. Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills have become one of the best teams to come out of the AFC. Last year we saw them come within one touchdown away from punching their ticket to the Super Bowl. With quarterback Josh Allen becoming one of the brightest up and coming stars in the NFL, it’s hard to believe that this team would even make this list. However flashback thirty years… you’d be looking at a Jim Kelly lead team that made it to four consecutive Super Bowl appearances in a row.  Yet losing all four of their chances at a Lombardi Trophy.  IN A ROW.  This fanbase is among the most loyal, and most diehard of any that I have been around.  They deserve to see their colors in the confetti that rains down on Super Bowl Sunday.

4. New York Jets

Where do I even start with this team? Oh the woe some Jets, another New York franchise that has been cursed with decades of failure. Despite going to two straight AFC Championships, with Mark Sanchez of all people, the Jets haven’t been relevant since the early 2000s. Time and time again, the Jets pass up on every opportunity to get better. Whether it be terrible draft picks, embarrassing moments like the Butt Fumble, or crushing playoff defeats, the Jets have become one of the biggest laughing stocks of the 21st century. If the Jets win the Super Bowl within my lifetime, then Hell will freeze over with it.

3. Las Vegas Raiders

Growing up a Raider fan, I fell in love with the silver and black. I loved everything about this team. Their bad guy reputation, their loyal fanbase, their dark colored jerseys… everything about them just made them the team to root for. Unfortunately, little did I know that their future was as dark as their jerseys. Since 2002, the Raiders have had one winning season, one. In that magical year of 2016, a broken ankle would force then MVP front-runner Derek Carr to the sidelines, dooming the Raiders ever since. I will forever wear the silver and black, but until they prove they are worthy of it, they don’t deserve my respect. The only thing that I admire about the Raiders organization up to this point is their fanbase. This team ruined my chance at experiencing what it felt like to be apart of a winning franchise growing up. When the Raiders lift the Lombardi, their success won’t be awarded to the team, it’ll be for us, the fans. A small price to pay for ruining every Raider fan’s childhood.

2. Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns aren’t number one on my list only because the Lions currently have a worse record.  Other than their 2020 Cinderella run that included their first playoff appearance since 2002, the Browns have had the longest playoff drought in NFL history. I can’t think of any other team that only won ONE GAME, in two years. Their endless string of bad quarterbacks has almost gotten impressive at this point.  It has to be one of the most impressive stats in NFL history, bar none. At this point, the entire NFL world is rooting for the Cleveland Browns to make something of themselves.

1. Detroit Lions

With the king of the jungle displayed on their team banner, the city of Detroit has mislead the NFL world into thinking that they’re a team to be feared of. Since the NFL was established back in 1920, the Lions haven’t even made it to the big game once. They were the first team to go 0–16, and are well on their way to seeing themselves reach that milestone once again this season. The last time the Lions were considered a consistently good team was in the 90’s. And even then, they were only decent because of Barry Sanders.  Sanders nearly broke his back trying to carry the entire team. I respect the Detroit fanbase, and I’ll be rooting for them when the day does finally come for them to be good.
