10. Washington Commanders (8-5)
Jayden Daniels and the Commanders ended their three-game losing streak with a dominant 42-19 win over the Tennessee Titans where they accumulated 463 total yards of offense. Daniels had a bounce-back performance after going through a rough patch in recent weeks, finishing the game with four total touchdowns and a completion percentage of 83.3. They face a relatively easy schedule in the final four games after their upcoming bye week.
9. Los Angeles Chargers (8-4)
The Chargers have routinely won the games that they should win throughout the season. L.A. is 7-1 against teams that are currently .500 or worse, while they are 1-3 against teams that are above .500. They are a very good team, but their lack of success against top teams could lead to challenges come playoff time.
8. Baltimore Ravens (8-5)
Baltimore currently has two major liabilities that are holding them back from being a Super Bowl contender. They have the worst pass defense in the NFL, allowing 283.6 yards per game through the air. Justin Tucker, who had previously held the title of most accurate kicker in NFL history, has missed eight field goals and two PATs so far this season. In fact, the Ravens are 1-5 in games where Tucker misses at least one kick.
7. Pittsburgh Steelers (9-3)
Sunday’s win over the Bengals was the first time that the Steelers scored 40 points in a game since 2018. They ended up with 520 total yards of offense—the most they have had in a single game since Ben Roethlisberger retired. The victory proved that Pittsburgh is capable of winning shootouts against top quarterbacks like Joe Burrow.
6. Minnesota Vikings (10-2)
Minnesota keeps winning, despite the fact that this week’s victory over the Cardinals was anything but convincing. Arizona outgained the Vikings 406 to 273, had a time of possession advantage of more than 11 minutes, and led almost the entire game. Nevertheless, Minnesota came away with yet another win, making them just the fifth team so far this season to hit double-digits in the win column. They should be favored to win their next two games, both of which are at home, against the Falcons and Bears.
5. Green Bay Packers (9-3)
Green Bay is a very tough team to beat at home during this time of year, as their two most recent wins against the 49ers and Dolphins would indicate. The Packers have won seven of eight games since the start of October, with the only loss in that span coming against the 11-1 Lions. Jordan Love has also stepped up his quality of play as of late, going back-to-back games without throwing an interception after having at least one in each one of his previous eight starts.
4. Kansas City Chiefs (11-1)
Kansas City has failed to win a game in convincing fashion for over a month, if not longer. Yet somehow it’s hard to be concerned about their validity when January rolls around. To put it plainly, the Chiefs continually do what they have to do in order to win games. They don’t care if they look like a great team in the process.
3. Philadelphia Eagles (10-2)
The Eagles are making a strong case for having the NFL’s best defense. They have held seven of their last eight opponents to 20 points or less, including games against some of the league’s top offenses like the Ravens, Commanders, and Bengals. Philly looks every bit as stacked on both sides of the ball as any team in the NFL.
2. Buffalo Bills (10-2)
Buffalo has now scored 30 or more points in six straight games dating back to Week 7, all of which were wins. They have also gotten considerably healthier of late. Matt Milano played for the first time all season in Sunday’s win against San Francisco, while Dalton Kincaid, Keon Coleman, and DeWayne Carter are all expected back for their upcoming game against the Rams.
1. Detroit Lions (11-1)
What can you even say about Detroit at this point that hasn’t already been said? They lead the league in scoring offense (31.9) and are second in the league in total offense (395.2). Even while missing one of the best defensive players in the league, they still rank second in the NFL in scoring defense (16.9). They have also held six out of 12 opponents to 14 points or less. The Lions hold on to the number one spot for another week as the Bills, Eagles, and Chiefs lurk behind them.
