Tony Romo, former NFL quarterback, seemed to empathize with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce’s experience in dating a more popular celebrity in Taylor Swift. Kelce has been receiving plenty of attention from the media after he started dating pop-singer Taylor Swift back in 2023. Media houses and journalists definitely lapped it up and the couple has been in the news every other day for some as bleak as going out to a simple dinner.
Romo has had first-hand experience of this since he dated singer/actress Jessica Simpson for a brief period during his NFL career. Romo, who played as a quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys in his entire football career, dated Simpson from 2007 to 2009. Their relationship was definitely not smooth, especially because of the intense media scrutiny the couple faced. Romo also felt that his performance on the field was affected and called it quits.
“People won’t even realize this, but he’s probably doing less than he used to when he was younger. If you get your picture taken going to dinner with your superstar girlfriend, it looks like you’re going out or something. No, he just went to dinner. Almost as if he’s married, going to dinner with his wife or something. Tony Romo’s words about Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift definitely hold a lot of truth, especially since this was confirmed by the Chiefs tight end himself. After his dismal performance in the 2024 NFL season, sources close to Kelce disclosed that the player felt that his performance dipped only because of the media pressure and all the attention that his relationship with Swift was getting.

In the same conversation with Us Weekly, Tony Romo also expressed his confidence in Travis Kelce for his future performances. Although Kelce might have struggled pretty badly in the previous NFL season as a result of his sudden fame, Romo remarked that the tight end would learn how to navigate this new level of stardom in the future.
Travis Kelce and the rest of the Kansas City Chiefs are currently training for a much better upcoming NFL season. In the previous NFL season, the Chiefs managed to make it to the Super Bowl matchup, only to be beaten by the Philadelphia Eagles, 40-22.
